No project purchasing activities are complete without Vendor Inspection, Quality Control, and Expediting. With this in mind, FGI provides a whole range of services involving engineering inspection at the vendor’s works. From pre-shipment inspection for a letter of credit purposes to stage inspections in accordance with the Quality Control Plan, the scope of the inspection can vary. Spread across the globe, the vendor expediting services of FGI allow clients to minimize delays in equipment and materials delivery. This ensures that that projects stay on schedule. FGI also assists clients in the assessment and selection of vendors by providing vendor assessment and technical capability audits. Our clients can rest assured that the equipment they buy will be delivered on time and as specified. This applies to both new construction and on-going maintenance.

Often called Third-Party Inspection or Source Inspection, Vendor Inspection covers activities performed at manufacturer’s work. This includes all types of electronic, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment bought for the Oil and Gas, Mining, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries.

Whether one request is made or multiple, we can accommodate all requests made during the project. The requirements of the client determine the inspection’s scope or level which is typically controlled by a Quality Plan. The scope can range from the final inspection to a rigorous inspection arrangement that goes through the following steps:

  • Pre-production meeting
  • Thorough identification and inspection of all raw materials
  • Witnessing of all tests
  • Inspections at all prescribed hold-point stages
  • Verification of all documentation and certificates
  • Final release inspection

We use our global network of associates and resource base of field engineers to perform the inspection. We induct all field engineers according to our Quality Management System. Additionally, we assess them on a continuing basis for competency and capability. This directly impacts the quality of our inspection services in a positive way.


A key part of the procurement process today is expediting. Previously, it was thought of as a corrective function rather than a preventive one. However, expediting should become part of the project planning right from the beginning since both the project schedule and pricing are increasingly critical. This will help to ensure timely delivery.

A continuous process, expediting helps to achieve the final delivery to the job site in the quickest time possible. It is important to implement an expediting service that is independent of inspection activities. More importantly, the service should be performed by experienced field expeditors.

Depending on client requirements, expediting services may be required at different stages of a project. The stages where expediting services may apply include rectification work, shipment and packing, fabrication and assembly, submission of documentation, material deficit, and failure on test or inspection.

We seek to get involved early in the design phase so that we can manage the project more efficiently, provide effective building solutions, and identify challenges early on to mitigate design changes after construction commencement.

This involves detailed pre-construction planning crucial to successful construction and on-time delivery, and allows the client and team a clear pathway to the bidding process, construction phase, and through to completion.

FGI performs pre-contract award surveys using highly-qualified QA Engineers who have experience of working with these manufacturers. This is highly recommended for clients who want to place orders with unfamiliar vendors or vendors they have reservations about.
