Often called Third-Party Inspection or Source Inspection, Vendor Inspection covers activities performed at manufacturer’s work. This includes all types of electronic, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment bought for the Oil and Gas, Mining, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries.

A key part of the procurement process today is expediting. Previously, it was thought of as a corrective function rather than a preventive one. However, expediting should become part of the project planning right from the beginning since both the project schedule and pricing are increasingly critical. A continuous process, expediting helps to achieve the final delivery to the job site in the quickest time possible. It is important to implement an expediting service that is independent of inspection activities. More importantly, the service should be performed by experienced field expeditors.

Depending on client requirements, expediting services may be required at different stages of a project. The stages where expediting services may apply include rectification work, shipment and packing, fabrication and assembly, submission of documentation, material deficit, and failure on test or inspection.
